Trinity Organ series hosts Japan native

Trinity Lutheran Church’s Artists at the Organ series presents Japanese organist Naomi Shiga Sunday, Oct. 25, in a program of Bach, Buxehude, Heiller, Mendelssohn and Liszt.

A native of Japan, Shiga started her organ studies at Ferris Women’s University in Yokohama. In 1995 Shiga moved to Boston where she completed both her Bachelor and Master degrees in Organ Performance at the New England Conservatory of Music with the honor “distinguished performance.”

Shiga continued her post-graduate studies at the University of Houston, and while living there was an instructor at North Harris College, as accompanist to the Houston Boycohir, and as organist at First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Now in her third year of living in the Pacific Northwest, she is currently organist at Christ Episcopal Church in Puyallup.

Trinity Lutheran Church is noted for its two manual, 30 stop organ built by Martin Pasi, housed in a black walnut, Italianate case in a fine acoustical environment.
