‘100 Years of Broadway’

'100 Years' at ECA

Experience the history of Broadway packed into one performance with "100 Years of Broadway" at Edmonds Center for the Arts, Saturday, Oct. 18.

Broadway hitmaker Neil Berg has assembled some of Broadway's finest performers for this two-hour tribute to the Great White Way to create a presentation that covers the most popular and famous music of Broadway's history. Backed by an all-star band, "100 Years of Broadway" recreates the biggest moments from the major shows of the century, with the stars of such theatrical productions as "The Phantom of the Opera," "Les Miserables," "Evita," "Jesus Christ Superstar," and "Fiddler on the Roof" performing the roles in which they originally appeared.

Along with musical director and pianist Neil Berg, the cast is scheduled to feature Ray McLeod (Wreck, Wonderful Town), Rita Harvey (Christine, The Phantom of the Opera), Carter Calvert (It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues), Danny Zollii (Jesus, Jesus Christ Superstar), and Erick Buckley (Marius and Jean Valjean, Les Miserables).

Berg is the composer/lyricist of the hit Off-Broadway musical "The Prince and the Pauper", which ran for two years at the Lambs Theater in New York City and currently the composer for the new Broadway musical "Grumpy Old Men", based on the contemporary movie classic starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, opening in 2009/2010. His latest show, "The Man Who Would Be King" with book and lyrics by DJ Salisbury, recently opened at the Rubicon Theater in CA. This show is in development for a Broadway run.

Berg's musical "Tim and Scrooge," with book and lyrics by Nick Meglin, was voted "one of the best musicals" of the inaugural NYMF festival in NYC, then opened at The Queens Theater in the Park, and is now optioned for a West End run. He is currently collaborating with Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Robert Schenkkan on a new musical called "The Twelve".
