Firefighters battle house fire in Silver Firs area

MILL CREEK – Firefighters have been battling a house fire in the Silver Firs area this morning.

Smoke from the fire can be seen from miles around. No injuries have been reported.

The fire was spotted about 9:45 a.m. today. People were inside the home at the time and were alerted to the fire by smoke alarms, Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.

At the same time the residents were fleeing, a passerby knocked on the family’s door to alert them to smoke billowing from the house.

Firefighters reported that part of the roof had collapsed.

The house is located in the 14900 block of 59th Avenue SE. Firefighters fought a kitchen fire at the house just three years ago, Hynes said.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
