Sport helps make Terrace unique

As a Mountlake Terrace resident who uses and enjoys Terrace Creek Park several times a week, I would like to take exception to efforts to ban disc golf from the park as detailed in the June 6 edition of the Lynnwood/Mountlake Terrace Enterprise.

The disc golf course has been a tremendous boon to Mountlake Terrace, providing a truly unique sporting opportunity for our residents, as well as a true draw for visitors from around Puget Sound. I've always been impressed at how respectful and accommodating the disc golfers that I have encountered have been.

As a former staff member of Seattle Audubon, Seattle's oldest environmental organization, I am very sympathetic to concerns that any activity would be detrimental to our local wildlife and plant life. But as a Mountlake Terrace homeowner who has used the park continually for five years, I simply do not see that this activity has generated a significant impact.

Our disc golf course is one of those wonderful things that make Mountlake Terrace different. Let's celebrate this activity, not ban it.
