Storm waives former Meadowdale standout

The Seattle Storm announced Thursday that guard Kristen O’Neill, a former Meadowdale High School and University of Washington standout, has been waived from the WNBA team.

The Storm's roster now stands at 13 players. Seattle opens its 2008 season on Saturday at home against Chicago.

O’Neill, a 2006 graduate of the UW, averaged 2.5 points and 1.0 rebounds in two preseason games for the Storm.

“Making some of the final cuts is always difficult, but letting Kristen go was an incredibly tough decision,” Storm head coach and director of player personnel Brian Agler said. “Kristen is very competitive. She is a great defender, shoots the ball well and her work ethic is unmatched. I’ve encouraged her to continue to work hard and to stay prepared to capitalize if the opportunity arises.”
