She is. It's a title awarded during spring break at Everett Community College during Dip Day. Because the cafeteria is closed, what with no students on campus, the staff members let their hair down (not in the dip) and challenge one another to bring in the best. Landry, interim director of continuing education, is famous for the following Reuben dip recipe: ½ cup sauerkraut, drained and coarsely chopped 4 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature 8 ounces sour cream 1/2 to 3 tablespoons horseradish, depending on taste 1 tablespoon course brown mustard 6 ounces corned beef, chopped Combine all ingredients and heat on low, stirring frequently. Serve with rye or marble bread. * * * There is a big list of folks to thank for the weekend's drive to aid Sarvey Wildlife Center in Arlington. They waited at several area grocery stores to collect cash, bleach, cat food, fleece blankets, paper towels, Q-tips and a bunch of things the center uses every day. Thanks to Vern Ottaway II, Cyndy Ottaway, Darren Massey, Roger Stalker, Mary Helen McCarty, JanRose Ottaway, Nicole Ottaway, Kailee Lopez, Robert Ritchey, Valerie Ritchey and Michael Ottaway. They delivered the goods, and $1,000, to a thankful Kaye Baxter, who has terminal cancer. "She didn't have much energy," said organizer Dorthy Ottaway. "It was hard to hug her back without fear that you would hurt her frail body." * * * Shilo, a mini schnauzer, shopped at PetSmart in Lynnwood on Sunday with my friend Patti Wright. Patti was waiting at the check stand and heard a woman wearing flip flops say, "Oh, oh." Shilo happens to like feet. She spied the open toes and gave them a nice lick. "You never know what is going to transpire with that dog," Patti said.
