New Forward Shoreline leadership announced

Donald A. Sands has been selected to lead Forward Shoreline as its 2008 Chair. Sands, a Shoreline resident and community activist, succeeds Larry Steele, owner of Aurora Rents.

Forward Shoreline was created by a group of community-minded citizens in late 2003 to help promote a vision for pride and investment in Shoreline. The organization is now comprised of commercial and non-profit leaders, residents of Shoreline and others who care about the future of the community.

Sands is an attorney and a retired business executive who owned a national real estate company specializing in medical-related facilities. He served as a Shoreline planning commissioner and chaired the city's recent economic development task force.

Others named to 2008 leadership positions in Forward Shoreline include Vice Chairs Jim Abbott of the SGA Corp. in Shoreline and Dom Amor of Puget Sound Energy; Michelle Cable as Treasurer and Finance Chair; and attorney Richard Matthews as Secretary, General Counsel and Chair of the Enterprise Partnerships Committee. Warren Johnson of Bayley Construction chairs the Communications Committee, while retired educator Ken Noreen chairs the new Education Committee and Keith McGlashan chairs the Membership Committee.

More information is available on the organization's Web site, www.ForwardShoreline.us.
