Celebrate Recovery
|
We are Christ centered 12 step program. We meet every Tuesday. We deal with everything from alcoholism, co-dependency, food issues, gambling, abuse recovery. !!Child care available!!
The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to encourage fellowship and to celebrate God’s healing power in our lives as we work our way along the road to recovery. We are changed as we share our experiences, strengths and hopes with one another. In addition we become willing to accept God’s grace and forgiveness in solving our life’s problems.
By working the principles and steps, we grow spiritually, and we are freed from our hurts, habits and hang-ups. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with others and our personal, loving, forgiving Higher Power – Jesus Christ. |

Introduction to Meditation
|
This 6-week class starts Monday, September 20, 7:00pm - 9:00pm.
Insight meditation also known as mindfulness or vipassana meditation comes from the Buddhist tradition.
It aims to free the mind from the distortions of self-centeredness, negativity, and confusion. Seeing life as a constantly changing process, one begins to accept pleasure and pain, fear and joy, and all aspects of life with increasing balance and equanimity.
This balanced awareness, grounded in the present moment, leads to stillness and a growing understanding of the nature of life. Out of this seeing emerges wisdom and compassion.
It is a moment-to-moment investigation of the mind and body process. Our experience is explored from a balanced and spacious awareness which allows the heart to flower in love.
During these six weeks there will be meditation instructions, talks about the philosophy of the practice, homework assignments, and time for discussion and questions.
Registration & Donation:
Please consider the following suggested event donation plus Dana for the teacher. Please contribute teacher Dana at the event. Please use your best efforts to pay the suggested donation or another heartfelt amount. All are welcome regardless of ability to pay.

Your class donation also includes the Day of Mindfulness on Saturday, October 3rd at Bastyr University.
Suggested Event Donation: Pay at Event $70.00
Teacher: Tim Geil
(The Buddha's teachings are offered according to the principle of dana, an ancient Pali word meaning “generosity,” “giving,” or “gift.” )

Tai Chi Chih - Joy Thru Movement : Fall Series
|
This 8-week class meets Tuesdays, October 5 to November 23; 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Discover this new form of Qi Qong, founded in the ancient Chinese art of T'ai Chi.
T'ai Chi Chih is an inner discipline cultivating awareness of the energy all about us and within. It is particularly well adapted to our fast-paced and stress-filled lives and has the potential to enhance awareness of the body/mind relationship.
The regular practice of T'ai Chi Chih produces wonderful benefits by circulating and balancing what the Chinese call “Chi”.
The 20 non-impact movements are easy to do, and are adaptable to anyone's comfortable range of motion or disability.
The movements require only a few feet of space and no special clothing or equipment. They can be done in a small apartment or almost anywhere.
They have a calming and centering effect which dissolves tensions and enhances creativity. Benefits come from balancing the “chi” and each individual will have their own health benefits, if practiced!
An effective STRESS-RELIEF technique. People that practice on a regular basis say that it: • Relaxes and relieves stress • Improves coordination, balance and flexibility • Gives more energy and stamina when needed • Improves sleep • Relieves back pain and headaches • Regulates blood pressure and metabolism • Increases mental clarity, concentration and creativity • Strengthens the heart, lungs, bones and immune system • Benefits arthritic joints and improves circulation
Cost: $89 class fee plus $10 registration fee.

|

|

ACLU of Washington Birthday Party
|
Join the ACLU of Washington at Cal Anderson Park with Mississippi prom plaintiff Constance McMillen to celebrate 75 years of protecting civil liberties, including the freedom to love whomever you choose. Free and open to the public.
Info at www.aclu-wa.org.
Represented by the ACLU, 18-year-old Constance sued school officials and won a federal court ruling in March that her Mississippi high school violated her First Amendment rights when it canceled the school prom rather than let her attend with her girlfriend. School officials then cruelly put on a "decoy" prom for her while the rest of her classmates were at a private prom 30 miles away. |

PLAYBORHOOD

Come to a neighborhood where everyone is under the influence of famous playwrights. Each household has characters who take on all of the elements of a playwrights style as though it were part of their culture. Imagine how a Shakespearian character may react to a Sondheim character breaking into song! Four nights with three different styles each night, improvised by a highly experienced cast, means you'll never see the same show twice. Cast: Elicia Wickstead, Randy Dixon, Ron Hippe, Mark Shone, Troy Mink, Stephanie Wichmann, Brandon Felker, Adrienne Corcoran, Sara Mountjoy-Pepka, Susie Simpkins, Kevin Brady, Tony Beeman, and Chazz Kaskes Directed by Ron Hippe Conceived & co-directed by Jay Hitt SEPT 2 William Shakespeare George Bernard Shaw Stephen Sondheim

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder awareness Fundraiser
|
Hello, my name is Dedie Davis I am the Founder and President of a new non-profit organization called Operation Open Arms. I started this organization in honor of my husband Sgt Byron Davis, who has fought for our country several times. Recently he began a new War here at home dealing with his P.T.S.D, like so many of our service men and women. Living with PT.S.D. is hard, something most of us will never understand. Living with someone who has P.T.S.D can be even harder. We have come along way in unraveling the mystery of this disorder; however we still have a long way to go. We owe it to those who fight for our freedom, in assisting them to lead a healthy life. Please join us for our P.T.S.D awareness fundraising event on September 10th from 6:30 – 10:30pm at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, located in beautiful downtown Edmonds. Enjoy tastings from local wineries and breweries, along with delicious hors d’ oeuvres. Bid on items at the Silent Auction, while enjoying the amazing sounds of local female artist Dayla Walker. Tickets are $25.00 and are tax deducible. Space is limited so purchase your tickets today by visiting www.operation-open-arms.com. Operation Open Arms, Moving a Nation to care one day at a time |

|

|

|

|

|

|
